Baryogenesis from Flat Directions of the Supersymmetric Standard Model

چکیده
Baryogenesis from the coherent production of a scalar condensate along a flat direction of the supersymmetric extension of the standard model (AffleckDine mechanism) is investigated. Two important effects are emphasized. First, nonrenormalizable terms in the superpotential can lift standard model flat directions at large field values. Second, the finite energy density in the early universe induces soft potentials with curvature of order the Hubble constant. Both these have important implications for baryogenesis, which requires large squark or slepton expectation values to develop along flat directions. In particular, the induced mass squared must be negative. The resulting baryon to entropy ratio is very insensitive to the details of the couplings and initial conditions, but depends on the dimension of the nonrenormalizable operator in the superpotential which stabilizes the flat direction and the reheat temperature after inflation. Unlike the original scenario, an acceptable baryon asymmetry can result without subsequent entropy releases. In the simplest scenario the baryon asymmetry is generated along the LHu flat direction, and is related to the mass of the lightest neutrino.

Non-thermal Dark Matter from Affleck-Dine Baryogenesis
In this talk we discuss the origin and nature of the dark matter in the Affleck-Dine (AD) baryogenesis. The AD baryogenesis via most of the flat directions predict formations of large Q-balls, and a great number of the lightest supersymmetric particles (LSPs) are produced nonthermally via the late-time decays of these Q-balls. In order to avoid the overclosure of the universe by these nontherma...
متن کاملReheating and Supersymmetric Flat - Direction Baryogenesis
We reexamine Affleck-Dine baryo/leptogenesis from the oscillation of condensates along flat directions of the supersymmetric standard model, which attained large vevs at the end of the inflationary epoch. The key observation is that superpotential interactions couple the flat directions to other fields, which acquire masses induced by the flat-direction vev that may be sufficiently small for th...
متن کاملCosmological consequences of MSSM flat directions
We review the cosmological implications of the flat directions of the Minimally Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). We describe how field condensates are created along the flat directions because of inflationary fluctuations. The post-inflationary dynamical evolution of the field condensate can charge up the condensate with B or L in a process known as Affleck-Dine baryogenesis. Condensate fl...
متن کاملFlat Directions and Baryogenesis in Supersymmetric Theories
Flat directions are a generic feature of supersymmetric theories. They are of cosmological interest because they can lead to coherent production of scalars. In the early universe such flat directions could be dangerous due to the potentially large energy density and the late decay of the associated scalars when they have only 1/Mp couplings (Polonyi problem). On the other hand, flat directions ...
متن کاملQ-Balls and Baryogenesis in the MSSM
We show that Q-balls naturally exist in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) with soft SUSY breaking terms of the minimal N=1 SUGRA type. These are associated with the Fand D-flat directions of the scalar potential once radiative corrections are taken into account. We consider two distinct cases, corresponding to the ”HuL” (slepton) direction with L-balls and the ”ucdcdc” and ”ucucd...
